In the 19th century racism, colonialism, anti-Semitism, patriarchy and nationalism were decisive in shaping societies. Every kind of knowledge that did not correspond to the ‘civilized’, was consistently destroyed but these erased narratives still influence our present.
Ayur (The Moon) is the second part of a trilogy that focuses on the semantics and mythologies of the Imazighen, the indigenous populations of North Africa. Ayur/Tanith, goddess associated to the moon in the punic Carthage, is as a solo by and with Tunisian dancer Sondos Belhassen based on texts written by the poet Lilia Ben Romdhane and rapper Mahdi Chammen “Massi”.
